Find Senders IP from Email header

Today i got some irritating mails. So i just wanted to find from where it is coming from. So had a search on the net. There are many tools available for checking the senders IP, but there is an issue, you wil have two from sets in some cases most of the tools find the first one alone.

So I got mails from two mail addresses

1. ms4243@gmail.com

2. sujaspot@yahoo.in

So i checked the headers of these mails. On that Gmail address it was tough to find the senders IP( am not able to find). It may be because am using google apps for my email address.

But for the second mail, that is from yahoo, there i got a clue. There are two “received from” headers where there on that mail.

Received: from n12-vm0.bullet.mail.in.yahoo.com (n12-vm0.bullet.mail.in.yahoo.com [202.86.4.246])

and

Received: from [116.68.79.123] by web95016.mail.in2.yahoo.com via HTTP; Fri, 30 Jan 2009 22:11:15 IST

so i checked 202.86.4.246 first on the http://ip2location.com, that was yahoo’s server , so i failed there. But when i checked the second IP, it was clear

From Trivandrum, Kerala, India  on Asianet As the ISP

you can check it here http://www.ip2location.com/116.68.79.123

So that was it. Thanks that he/she sent that from yahoo mail also :P

So i find this article from johnru very very helpful.

Now setup a simple filter on the mail to delete the mail from these email addresses, to be deleted with out reaching the inbox.
