Watch Dogs, the hacker-vigilante based action-adventure game from Ubisoft is currently free on the Uplay store. This is one of the most underrated games ever made, and you could partially blame it on Ubisoft for excessive hype they created, making the game sound like it would be better a than GTA V.
That being said, it's not a bad game at all. Think of an open world game, where you can drive around like GTA, but also has stealth, unique mechanics such as a reputation system where you gain public opinion based on your actions. You could play the good guy who is sort of a guardian angel or a bad guy who everyone hates.
The story is quite good, the gameplay even better, and the graphics are nothing short of superb. Did you know that Watchdogs and Assassin's Creed are set in the same universe?
Now, to the free game. Ubisoft is celebrating the Holiday Season by giving away Watch Dogs for free for all users on PC. The game is available for free from November 7th to November 13th, 2017 4:00 PM UTC. If you have Uplay installed on your PC, run the program, and you should see a banner which says "Get Watch Dogs for free". Click on it, and then on OK, to add it to your game library.
The reason why it says preload, and the game is not released yet, is because the giveaway actually hasn't started yet, but it's good that you can still get it for free already.
The announcement page also mentions more surprises are on the way. So, there may be more free games available.
