Blizzard Entertainment is holding its annual BlizzCon gaming convention, where it announces upcoming games, and some other news. This time, the company is taking it a step further and has announced that everyone can get Destiny 2 for free on PC, for a limited time.
The game is being given away as part of its one-year anniversary celebration.
If you don’t know what the game is like, here is a very brief description about it. Destiny 2 is a first-person shooter RPG, which has singleplayer and multiplayer modes. The game is set in a sci-fi world, and allows you to build a character (Guardians) by leveling up and choosing classes/skills. It is kind of like Halo, and in fact is developed by the same company, Bungie, which made the classic game.

If you haven't already added your phone number to your Blizzard account, you will see a message like the one below which says "You need to enable SMS Protect".
Basically, it uses your mobile number for 2-factor authentication, to prevent people from logging into your account. You can click on the words "enable SMS Protect" on the same page, to set up your account for 2-factor security. Once you have done that, revisit the link. And you should be able to proceed.
How to get Destiny 2 for free on PC
Visit the Gifts page on Blizzard’s Battlenet website.
You will see a message which looks like this.
Click on the word “Claim” and Destiny 2 will be added to your account.

You do get Destiny 2 for free and keep it forever. Blizzard has confirmed this with the words “free digital copy”, that it is indeed a permanent to keep game, not a time limited trial. You don’t have to download the game right now, you can install it and play it anytime you want to from your Battle.net Game Client Download Page. Just a word of warning, you can play Destiny 2 solo. It does have a single player campaign. But, you cannot play the game offline. Yes, just like Diablo 3, you need to be online even to play solo. Also, remember that the game is a 68GB download.
And don’t forget to make sure your computer meets the required tech specs for the game.
