Assassin’s Creed Identity for iOS is coming soon, Ubisoft announced yesterday.
What makes Assassin’s Creed Identity unique, is that it is a full action RPG game for mobile devices. And this is the first of its kind in the Assassin's Creed series itself.
Yes it is not merely a platformer, it is a proper 3D third person open world game with the mechanics of a regular Assassin’s Creed game. This is quite incredible news, and the game does look amazing.
Controls and gameplay:
The game will feature two types of controls. Single tap, and dual-stick controls (a virtual D-PAD). It will also support gamepads for a true console experience. Players will be able to run, jump, climb, vault, and even perform the famous Leap of Faith jumps in the game.
Combat is also quite similar to the other games in the franchise, and it is truly something remarkable, that the developers have managed to pack all this into handheld devices. The game's story is set in 10 locations around Europe including France and Italy, and involves several quests.
RPG mechanics:
Assassin’s Creed Identity will let you customize your assassin in one of four classes: Berserker, Shadowblade, Trickster and Thief, each with their own special moves, and skills which you can assign to suit your play style. Additionally, the game will have tons of lot, using which you can gear up the assassin or even craft new items.

The game was originally launched in Australia and New Zealand in 2014, as part of a sof-launch (sort of like a beta test) and was free-to-play. Those versions have been pulled, and the new game is a premium title which will cost $4.99. Assassin’s Creed Identity for iOS will be will be released globally on February 25th. The game will be compatible on iOS 7 and above on iPad 3 (or newer), and iPhone 5 (or newer).
Sadly, there is no word about an Android version of the game, which suggests this could be an Apple exclusive game.
