SanDisk has launched their, and the World’s first 128GB microSD card
The announcement came during a press event at the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona.
The card carries the official name “128GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC”
Until today, the maximum storage on a microSD card was 64GB. Well, that changed, but it’s not all good news. Why?
Because the only device which can support a 128GB card is the Samsung Galaxy S5 which was unveiled yesterday at the MWC.
SanDisk say that it had developed “an innovative proprietary technique that allows for 16 memory die to be vertically stacked, each shaved to be thinner than a strand of hair”. The memory card offers twice the speed of Normal ones, i.e 2 X 5 MB/s write speed. Who wouldn’t want a memory card which has a writing speed of 10 MB/s and 128 gigs of storage space?
While this is an incredible achievement, it comes at a huge price, for the customers of course. Because the memory card costs a whopping $199.99.
The 128GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card is available in the U.S exclusively at BestBuy and Amazon.
