MediaTek Helio P25 16nm FinFET Octa-core processor officially announced

MediaTek has officially announced a new smartphone chipset, the MediaTek Helio P25. It is the successor to the popular Helio P110 and the P20 chipsets.

MediaTeK Helio P25
But the company has upgraded the new chipset, quite a bit. The MediaTek Helio P25 is manufactured using a 16nm process, and offers better performance, while consumeing 25% less power. The processor has 8 Cortex ARM-A53 cores, clocked to a maximum soeed of up to 2.5GHz. Sadly MediaTek is sticking to eMMc 5.1 instead of UFS storage.

The chipset will come with an recent ARM Mali-T880, which has dual GPUs clocked at up to 900MHz. The Helio P25 supports upto 6GB of LPDDR4 RAM, which can provide up to 70% bandwidth. The chipset supports up to 64 QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) uplink for TDD LTE.

The MediaTek Helio P25 supports up to to 23 MP lens for a single camera, or 13 + 13 MP dual cameras, thanks to its MediaTek Imagiq ISP (image signal processor), which is also used in the company's flagship processors, the MediaTeK Helio X23 and Helio X27.

This dual camera set up of couse, is one RGB color and a monochrome sensor, and can support real-time shallow Depth of field bokeh, HDR for Video with preview, Turbo 3A high performance auto exposure to speed up convergence speed by 30-55%.
