Redmi India has announced the launch date for the next phone, in our Country. And it appears it could be the Redmi Note 5, and not the Redmi 5.
To add to the confusion of which device is going to be launched, Redmi announced the teaser as “5 is set to be unleashed”. The company did reply yo a user who wanted to know that the device is the Redmi Note 5 and not the Redmi 5. The reply to the user’s query was a bit vague, but the user logically predicted that it could be the Note 5. And we agree.
Xiaomi has been announcing a new Note phone during the first quarter of the year, as has been evidenced by the March 2016 launch of the Redmi Note 3, and the January launch of the Redmi Note 4 in 2017.
Also, there have been leaks of the Redmi Note 5 recently, which looks much different compared to the Redmi 5 Plus which was launched last year in China. Unlike the Redmi 5 Plus, the leaked photos of the Redmi Note 5 have thin bezels, and also features dual rear cameras.
The Redmi Note 5 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor powering both the 3GB/4GB RAM variants, which come with 32GB/64GB of internal storage. The device runs on Android Nougat with MIUI 9.
According to the leaked pricing details, the Redmi Note 5 with 3GB of RAM will be priced at approximately Rs. 15,000 while the 4GB variant will cost about Rs. 18,000. The prices are higher than the usual Redmi Note phones, but we will know for sure if the leaked photos, specifications and prices are accurate, when the Redmi Note 5 is launched on February 14th in India.
