Apple has launched a new 9.7-inch iPad with support for the Apple Pencil stylus.The new tablet is powered by the Cupertino company's 64-bit A10 Fusion chip and an M10 coprocessor. The screen on the new iPad 9.7 is a Retina Display, with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels at 264 PPI. In addition to using the Apple Pencil for drawing, you can also use it in apps such as Notability, Pages, Numbers, Keynote and Microsoft Office. The iPad runs on iOS 11, which means you can use tablet specific features such as the dock, split view, slide over, drag and drop, etc. The device also supports AR apps. Apple says that the new iPad will deliver up to 10 hours of battery life. The device supports Touch ID through the fingerprint sensor which is built into the Home button. Other sensors on the device include Three-axis gyro, Accelerometer, Barometer and an Ambient light sensor. Connectivity options on the device includes Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac); dual band (2.4GHz and 5GHz); HT80 with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, Digital compass, Wi-Fi, Assisted GPS and iBeacon microlocation (the SIM variant also supports Assisted GPS and GLONASS Cellular). The iPad has a 3.5mm Audio jack, a lightning port, and stereo speakers. The rear camera is an 8 MP autofocus lens with an ƒ/2.4 aperture, Five-element lens, Hybrid IR ?lter, Backside illumination, Auto image stabilization, Live Photos, etc. The Facetime Camera, aka the selfie lens is a 1.2 MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, with Retina Flash. The Apple iPad will be priced at $329 in the U.S, while students and teachers can get the same for $299. There is a WiFi + SIM variant, also with 32GB, for $459. The Apple Pencil will retail for $99 ($89 for Schools). The iPad comes in three colours: Silver, Space Gray and Gold. Smart covers priced at $39 will be available in Charcoal Gray, Midnight Blue, Red, White and Pink Sand.
The new Apple iPad has been priced at Rs. 28,000 in India, for the 32GB variant. The WiFi + SIM variant, will cost Rs. 38,600. These prices are significantly higher than the U.S. prices. The Apple Pencil has been priced at Rs. 7,600 in India. The iPad will be available in April in India, Russia, Thailand, Turkey and other countries and regions, followed by South Korea in May, and later on in other regions.
