Indian gamers. rejoice!. Valve has added Net Banking support in India, along with Debit Card, Digital Wallet and Cash on Delivery payment systems, a day before the biggest PC game sale of the year. You no longer need to disturb your friends for using their credit card, to buy games from Steam or ask them to send games to your account, as a gift.
In case you are not aware, the Steam Winter Sale begins tomorrow, on December 22nd 2016, and will run until the 1st of January, 2017.
Up until now, the only way to by games on Steam in India, was possible via credit cards, debit cards which have been authorized for International transactions, PayPal and Steam Wallet. Now, you can buy games by adding them to your cart, and selecting one of the following new options:
- Cash on Delivery
- (Domestic) Credit Card
- (Domestic) Debit Card
- Net Banking
- Prepaid Wallet (Paytm)
The payment is processed by Nova Play, in India, so you can use your bank’s VBV password, or OTP (via sms) to approve the payment. Steam seems to have followed in Google Play’s footsteps, which recenly added Net Banking support for Android users, in India, but Valve’s effort to add COD and Paytm as alternatives, in addition to Debit Card and Net Banking support is much better.
