Sony Playstation 4 Pro and slimmer Playstation 4 announced for $399 and $299

Sony has officially announced its newest gaming console, the Playstation 4 Pro, alongside a new slimmer Playstation 4.

PlayStation 4 Pro

The new Playstation 4 consists of the same technical specifications as the original one which was launched in 2013, but in a slimmer and lighter build, and will consume less power. The new PS4 is significantly cheaper at just $299, and will begin shipping from September 15th.

Now, coming to the Playstation 4 Pro (formerly referred to as PlayStatio Neo), it is a major upgrade over the PS4. The PS4 Pro comes with a more powerful GPU (AMD Radeon 4.20 TFLOPS), an overclocked octa-core AMD Jaguar processor, with 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, and a 1TB HDD.

The only downside is that the PS4 Pro cannot play 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray discs directly. It can still use its software technology to play games and content in 1080p FullHD to 4K display resolutions.

Upcoming games like Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Mass Effect: Andromeda, FIFA 17, Days Gone, will all support the new PS4 Pro, as well as the new and old versions of the PS4.

The Playstation 4 Pro will be available from November 10, 2016 for $399. Amazon.com already lists the device for pre-order with various bundled offers. The Sony PlayStation 4 Pro will definitely prove to be one to lookout for, while we await the Microsoft Xbox Scorpio, which only launches in the last quarter of 2017.
