The Samsung Galaxy S8 will apparently come with an "infinity display", according a report by The Guardian, which quotes insiders from the company. The report confirms that the phone will come in two display sizes, between 5.0 and 6.0 inches. The devices are codenamed Dream and Dream 2 to differentiate the variants.
Both displays will be Edge displays, i.e., dual curved edge screens, which take up almost the entirety of the front panel, that there is little space to left Samsung's logo on it. The leaked image you see above is reportedly close to the original display, which indeed proves the report right, there is no room for the logo, This high percentage screen to body ratio, is probably why the display is called "infinity display".
We have seen many Galaxy S8 leaks, which we have detailed in one single all we know about the S8 post, but this is perhaps the most interesting leak, regarding the Galaxy S8, so far. That’s because, it says that Samsung has dropped its trademark home button and front facing fingerprint scanner. Instead, the fingerprint scanner will be on the back panel of the device. Speaking of which, Samsung will continue with its dual pixel rear cameras, with improved technoglogy,built-in object recognition . The Galaxy S8 will also come with an iris scannner like the Note 7.
And the report quotes many sources which confirm the 3.5mm audio jack and a USB Type-C port. The device will be powered by a 10nm process chipset, likely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, which the Korean electronics giant, co-engineered with the phone chipset maker. The Galaxy S8 will also feature a new AI, aka a digital assistant called Bixby. Additionally, it will have a dextop extension, similar to Continuum, called Dex, which weill require a peripheral of the same name.
The device will have 64GB of onboard storage with a microSD card slot, with support for up to 256GB of expandable storage.
