The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ have been officially launched, and here’s all you need to know about the two phones. The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch curved display with a Quad HD+ resolution of 2960 x 1400 pixels, with a pixel density of 570 PPI, and supports Always On display. The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus sports a 6.2-inch curved edge display, of the same resolution of the S8, but with a slightly lower pixel density of 529 PPI .
Both devices have been made with Glass and an Aluminum shell for a premium finish. The new bezel-less display, which Samsung calls Infinity Display, offers an immersive experience thanks to the 18:9 ratio. There is no physical home button on the front panel, but there is an invisible home button under the display. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the back panel of the phones, and an Iris scanner is available as an additional biometric authentication, to unlock the phone.
The display is certified for Mobile HDR Premium, which makes it the first phone to receive such certification. Speaking of certifications, the devices offer IP68 water and dust resistance. The phones support up to 256GB of expandable memory via a microSD card slot, and the batteries support fast charging as well as wireless charging.
Both the S8, and the S8+ The phones run on Android 7.0 Nougat, and are powered by an Octa Core 64-bit 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor (Exynos 8895 in certain Countries), and comes with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. The main camera in the Galaxy S8 and the S8+, uses a multi-frame processor for great quality pictures. The primary photography options are a Dual Pixel 12 megapixel dual rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization and an f/1.7 aperture, The selfie lens is an 8 megapixel front camera with autofocus, and an f/1.7 aperture. The Galaxy S8 is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery, while the S8+ packs a 3,500 mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and the S8 Plus have a physical button on the right edge, which is a shortcut key to access the new digital personal assistant, called Bixby. This AI is similar to Google Assistant, but with some advanced capabilities, in that it can not only recognize what you say, and what app you are using, but also appropriate contact names, and other content, thanks to its context awareness capabilities.
