Notable leakster, Evan Blass, has spilled the beans of the model numbers of the upcoming flagship phones from Samsung, the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8 Edge.
The phones will ship with the model numbers, SM-G950 & SM-G955. In comparison, the 2015 flagships from the South Korean electronics giant, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge had the model numbers SM-G930 and SM-G935. In India the S7 has the model number SM-G930F, while the S7 Edge has the number SM-G9355.
That's not all, Blass also mentions that a device with the model number SM-N950, is in the works. That refers to the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which will be the successor to the Galaxy Note 5 (since the Note 7 has been discontinued, we can’t really consider it as a successful model). But there are a few things to be “noted” here.
While there's no concrete information about the technical specifications of the devices yet, but this leak does suggest that there will be two variants of the S8, a flat screen one, and a dual curved Edge display variant. There is only one model mentioned for the Note 8, which hints that there will be only one variant, likely with a dual edge display.
We speculate that, if Samsung sticks to its usual launch calendar, we could be looking at an MWC 2017 (Mobile World Congress) Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, during 27th February to 2nd March 2017 for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8. The Note 8 could be launched later, sometime during August or September 2017, depending on Samsung’s plans.
