Samsung Galaxy S8 to sport 5.8 inch display, S8 Plus to have a battery capacity similar to Note 7's

Earlier, we reported that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will sport a 5.7 inch display, but we stand corrected. But in our defense, that was what leaks reported, and as you kow, leaks are never 100% accurate.

However, we know that when that information comes from a credible source, you can trust it. Evan Blass, known as evleaks, has announced that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will sport a 5.8 inch display, and the bigger variant will be the S8 Plus, which will come in a 6.2 inch display. Both displays are QHD ala 2K, and will use Super AMOLED technology.

In another report from South Korea, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will be backed by a 3000 mAh battery. The S8 Plus will have a battery, with a larger capacity similar to the Note 7. The

Samsung’s next flagship smartphone will come in two types -- one with a 5.7-inch display and another with a 6.2-inch display. The first will be fitted with the 3,000mAh battery while the latter will come with the larger battery capacity. This is expected to be a 3,500 mAh battery.

These batteries will reportedly be supplied by three manufactures, Murata Manufacturing (based in Japan), ATL  (based in China), and Samsung’s own SDI. ATL and SDI are infamous for the Note 7's battery failure, which was  recently confirmed as the primary cause of the Note 7 catching fire and exploding. Samsung owns SDI, and it is obvious it cannot avoid using its facility, but it is unclear if it will work with ATL after the Note 7 fiasco.

The Galaxy S8 is expected to be launched on March 29th and will go on sale from April 21st.
