Samsung announced new Samsung Exynos 8895 chipset

Exynos-9-series-8895

Samsung announced a new processor in the Exynos 9 series, the new processor is named 8895.  8895 is Samsung’s first processor  which will be using 10nm FinFET process technology. Samsung claims it will have around 40% less power consumption and 27% of higher performance. Earlier we have covered Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with quick charge 4, which is also a 10nm FinFET processor.

Exynos 8895 is an octa-core processor which will be arranged in two sections. The first one will be  Samsung’s 2nd generation custom designed CPU cores for the processes which will  require higher performance and the second cluster will be a quad core Cortex-A53 CPU which will be much more power efferent than the other one.

It will be supporting 5 carrier aggregation (carrier aggregation is used to increase the bandwidth, used in LTE).  Samsung says it can have up to 1Gbps downlink and 150Mbps uplink.

The processor will be using ARM’s Mali G71 GPU. The MFC (multi-format codec) allows users to record video playback and recording at 4K Ultra High Definition format with 120 Frame per Second.

Separate processing unit for security solution like fingerprint and iris scanner and  Embedded Vision Processing Unit (VPU) to support better video tracking, panoramic image processing etc.

Samsung announced that the Exynos 9 Series 8895 is currently in mass production.  We believe that, this will be the processor in their next flagship phone like Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus. Samsung have history of announcing flagship phones with a Snapdragon processor and another variant with Exynos processor.
