Pelican learns to fly, films footage with a camera strapped to its beak

Remember the bird which tried to steal an egg camera and ended up capturing some stunning footage of a penguin colony?

Pelican films footage with a Go Pro Camera

Well, here is another wannabe feathered cinematographer, Bigbird Pelican.

Bigbird was caught up in a storm and was taken in by the staff of Greystoke Mahale in Tanzania.

Here is the amazing video where the Pelican learns to fly, he has a GoPro HD HERO3+® camera, which is strapped to the top of its beak.

At first, the Pelican looks a bit confused as to what to do, but then one of it’s caretakers runs around flapping his arms, in an attempt to coax Bigbird to do the same. And then he flaps his wings and takes flight, soaring above the river and capturing the wonderful footage that we see above.

However after the short flight, he quickly returns to the land, and from the looks of it, I think he returned to his caretakers.
