OnePlus 5 launch date leaked ahead of official announcement

The OnePlus 5 will be launched sooner than we expected, if an internal email which was leaked is the real deal. According to the email, the OnePlus 5 will be launched on June 15th.

OnePlus 5 launch date leaked

That is just about 2 weeks away from now, which is not exactly surprising, since the company’s CEO, recently confirmed that the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. Why did he mention it publicly if OnePlus isn’t ready to launch the phone?

Speaking of which, there have been several rumours about a major issue, concerning the OnePlus 5’s most important factor, the price.

OnePlus 5 expected price:

OnePlus has been rumoured to shift towards a higher price tier, moving away from its $400 standard pricing for its phone. Word around blogs is that the OnePlus 5 will be priced at $650, like the Google Pixel.

We don't think that is possible though, here's why. OnePlus often says that its phones will never have a price cut, because slashing the price means betraying early supporters. A company which considers customer loyalty so much, is unlikely to dissapoint fans by moving to a premium price tag.

Also, OnePlus is not such a big company yet, to price its phone on the higher side. The after effects of a move like this, is sure to backfire badly. Higher price means fewer sales, something which the company cannot afford anywhere, be it in China, India or the US. OnePlus has always been about flagship specs on a budget, and the new price tag doesn't feel logically correct.
