OnePlus 2 will not be updated to Nougat, officially confirmed

The OnePlus 2 will not be updated to  Nougat, it is official now. The official confirmation comes via Android Authority, which spoke to OnePlus' staff.

Never Update

This is what the official had to say, when asked whether the OnePlus 2 would get the Nougat update.

“customer service has been telling customers this for a little while. we’re happy about what we’re doing with software. We already confirmed Android O will come for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. So [it] isn’t new and we think people were aware of it.”

The message is referencing to multiple reports on the internet, which said that OnePlus' chat support had confirmed that the OnePlus 2 would not be updated to Nougat. The tone of the message is quite alarming, and sounds as if they don’t care.

So, why is the OnePlus 2 not being updated?

OnePlus’ bizarre explanation for that was

“when we built the OnePlus 2 we didn’t have the software infrastructure team in place we do now.”

This sounds like they want to blame the merger of the Hydrogen and Oxygen teams, but still doesn't make much sense.

So much for the 2016 Flagship Killer not getting 2016 OS. Oh well
