Nokia Lumia Cyan based on Windows Phone 8.1 update, begins rolling out to users

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that the Windows Phone 8.1 Update, will begin rolling out in the second week of July.

And it appears that the Cyan Update, which is based on Windows Phone 8.1, is already available in Finland, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand, as part of a pilot program.

Users have reported that the update is available on the entry level handset, the Nokia Lumia 625. An official announcement is yet to be made, after which the global roll out of the update for more devices, should begin.

The Cyan Update will bring new features such as:

  • Cortana powered by Bing – A voice based virtual assistant
  • Action Center – Notification Center, Quick Settings Toggles on the status bar.
  • Lockscreen customization
  • Internet Explorer 11
  • On-Screen Keys
  • Wordflow Keyboard  - similar to Swype

We expect the release of the Windows Phone 8.1 update will be followed by, the availability of the Micromax and Xolo Windows Phones via Stores and Online retailers.
