Remember a few weeks back we were talking about the second generation Android One devices, devices which will be in the mid range sector and will have better features to compete with the market. We also told Google’s intention of ditching its three original partners Karbonn, Micromax, and Spice in favour of Lava to manufacture this device.
Well guess what?, the wait is finally over since the Lava Iris Pixel V1 is the first second generation Android One device and it has been launched on Flipkart for a price tag of Rs. 11,350 This will not be an entry level device and in fact will be a midrange device as its specifications will clearly show you that. Without much ado lets jump into the specifications of this device.
The device comes with a 1.3 Ghz MediaTek Quadcore processor. This is actually the sad part of this phone, that no Qualcomm processor is being used. At this price point we do except to see at least the 400 or 410 Snapdragon processor. There is 2GB RAM+32 GB ROM expandable to another 32GB. 32GB ROM is really cool. It comes with a 13MP back camera(8MP Sensor+5MP software enhancements) 8MP front camera(5MP Sensor+3MP Software Enhancements). We do not know how well those software enhancements work, but quality is expected since its Google endorsed. Also it has 5.5” HD display, with Asahi DragonTail screen protection and Oleophobic coating for a smooth touch experience. 2650mAH solid battery backup has been provided. It is available in White and Gold colours but flipkart only seems to have the white variant. Best part is that it comes with Android 5.1 with no bloat and will get guaranteed upgrades for the next 2 years directly from Google.
Look at their teaser video as well, specially made for Indians.
Now the specifications are excellent except for the processor maybe and there is a lot riding on this phone. It has also been launched just a day before Moto G3 launch on Flipkart. Moto G series has always been a clear winner and a tough competition for any phone entering the mid range segment. This phone is exclusively available online with Flipkart, but will be made available in offline stores as well. Mobile Store already has it in stock and in some areas is guaranteeing lightning fast 2 hour delivery service. It is also unclear how google plans to compete with the Moto G3. Since the phone is still in stock it means it did not go viral like other devices which had launched. I hope so people get a very good exchange offer for this device.
