Jio plan prices hiked, 84 days plan now costs Rs. 459: An in-depth comparison of the current and previous offers

Jio has announced a new set of pre-paid plans, and yes the process of increasing the prices and decreasing the number of validity days or data limits continues. We have gotten used to this in a year of Jio’s existance.

Jio plans price hiked comparison

But what exactly has changed now? We have made an in-depth comparison of the current and previous offers.

Jio has scrapped the following plans altogether all of which had unlimited SMS.

  • Rs. 19 plan - 1 day validity with 200MB data
  • Rs. 49 plan - 3 days validity with 600MB data
  • Rs. 309 plan - 56 days validity with 1GB/day
  • Rs. 349 plan - 56 days validity with 20GB data
  • Rs. 9999 plan - 360 days validity with 780GB

The Good:

The New Jio plans include a lot of changes, with the cheapest pre-paid plan being the Rs. 52 plan which offers 7 days validity with 1.05GB data, with a daily limit of 0.15GB, and 70 free SMS. This replaces the Rs. 96 plan which offered 7 days validity with 7GB data with a daily FUP of 1/GB day.

The Rs. 98 plan offers 14 days validity with 2.1GB data, with a daily limit of 0.15GB, and 140 free SMS.

The Rs. 149 offers 28 days validity with 4.2GB data, with a daily limit of 0.15GB, and 300 free SMS. The previous offering under this plan was 2GB data, and 300 free SMS. So, this is an improvement.

The Rs. 1999 plan offers 180 days validity, with 125GB of data and unlimited free SMS, as opposed to the previous offer of 120 days validity and 155GB of data.

The Rs. 4999 plan offers 360 days validity with 350GB of data and unlimited free SMS. This plan previously offered 380GB of data for 210 days.

The Bad:

The Rs. 459 plan replaces the former Rs. 399 plan and offers 84GB of data with an FUP of 1GB/day with unlimited free SMS.

The Ugly:

The Rs. 399 plan offers 70 days validity with 70 data, with a daily limit of 1GB, and unlimited free SMS. Previously this plan offered 84 days validity with 84GB data, making the new price hike a bad offer.

The Rs. 509 plan offers 49 days validity with 98GB of data, with a daily limit of 2GB, and unlimited free SMS. This is actually a bad deal too, as previously this plan offered 56 days validity with 112GB data.

The Rs. 999 plan offers 90 days validity with 60GB of data and unlimited free SMS. This plan previously offered 90GB of data.
