Be my Eyes is a simple free android/iOS application through which a person can help the blind or visually impaired people to find the expiry date of a product, choose the right cloth for them or find a vacant seat at park etc. .
If you want to help, you need to get the application from the Google Play Store (Link) or Apple iTunes store (Link)and register an account as a volunteer. Select the primary and secondary languages you can speak. When some user want a help, he will make a call and a volunteer can help the visually impaired through an audio video call.
If you could not help the person due to some bad video quality or network issues, the call will be forwarded to the next available volunteer.
Blind people can call the first available sighted user who is ready to help. It is suggested that you should not reveal your personal information, banking details etc. to the volunteers.
Blind or visually impaired users can request help from a sighted volunteer, who will be notified on their phone. As soon as the first sighted user accepts the request for help, a live audio-video connection will be set up between the two parts. The sighted helper can now assist the blind or visually impaired, through the video connection from the blind or visually impaired user’s rear-facing camera.
The most interesting thing is that there are thirteen times more volunteers than blind users registered to the application. So you may not receive a call for days to help a person.
