Online Game Retailer, Humble Bundle, who are known for funding charities by selling game bundles, are on a special mission.
They have launched a massive indie game bundle, to help support a game developer who is battling cancer.
This is Brandon Boyer, the 37 year old game developer, who was diagnosed with cancer. He has been self employed for a decade and cannot afford his medical expenses. He had taken a medical insurance contract with a firm called Humana, who denied him the coverage by using a clause in his contract, which claimed he had a pre-existing condition, and thus is ineligible for insurance claims. A shocked and helpless Brandon spoke out about this at GoFundMe. You can read his entire post here.
They have already raised over $110,000 at GoFundMe, but it is good to have more people backing him up. And the gaming community has risen up to stand up with Brandon, with many people joining in Crowd funding campaigns to support him and also to stand up against Humana.
Humble Bundle have joined this noble cause, by launching an indie game bundle at their website. This time however, it isn’t a pay anything you want bundle. Instead, you have to pay a minimum of $25, and all proceeds of this campaign, will go directly to the Brandon Boyer Cancer Treatment Relief fund. Excess funds from this promotion will be donated to a select cancer research organization.
So you get a ton of games + help a guy battle a deadly disease + help other people indirectly by funding a research organization.
