THQ Nordic has announced Darksiders III, the third game in the hack-n-slash action adventure franchise, for Windows PC, Microsoft Xbox One and the Sony PlayStation 4. The game is currently in development, and targets a release in 2018.
Gunfire Games the original creators of the Darksiders franchise are involved in making Darksiders III. The game features Fury, one of the four horsemen, and she depicts Famine.
The first game featured the horseman named War, and the second Death. It is likely that Darksiders 4 could feature the final horseman Pestileence aka Strife. Fury is the female protagonist in Darksiders III, and is a mage, who in addition to magic, also battles with a chain-like whip (Indiana Jones anyone?). The game is set in the iconic apocalyptic planet Earth setting, which we are used to in Darksiders. Fury has been called by the Charred Council to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins, and she will battle from the heights of heaven down through the depths of hell in a quest to restore humanity, while also proving that she is the most powerful of the Horsemen.
The game will feature a world which is not only open-ended, living, free-form planet Earth, but is also seeing the aftermath of war and decay, and is overrun by nature. There will be multiple environments to switch in to and play.
