List of Motorola phones which will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo

Motorola has announced which of its devices will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. As many as 12 phones will be updated to the latest version of the OS, but the list does not include Moto’s low end devices in the C and E series, which were released a few months ago. This could stir up a controversy, but since the devices lack the hardware power of the other devices, it may be understandable, though I am sure custom ROM users will disagree.

With that out of the way, here is the list of Motorola phones which will be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo.

  • Moto Z
  • Moto Z Droid
  • Moto Z Force Droid
  • Moto Z Play
  • Moto Z Play Droid
  • Moto Z2 Play
  • Moto Z2 Force Edition
  • Moto X4
  • Moto G5
  • Moto G5 Plus
  • Moto G5S
  • Moto G5S Plus

Another notable absentee in the list is the entire lineup of the Moto G4 series from 2016, which might be a bit of a disappointment as the device is just about 1 and a half years old. There is no ETA as to when Motorola will be updating the above devices to Oreo, just that it will reach some devices this Fall (mid September to mid December) so it might take a few months for the firmware to arrive.
