Internet Download Manager extension for Edge released on the Microsoft Store

Internet Download Manager, or IDM as it is commonly called, has been updated to version 6.30 Build 1. And this version brings a new extension for Microsoft Edge, which is available at the Microsoft Store.

The default browser in Windows 10, has gained popularity among users, thanks to the fact that it now supports many add-ons aka extensions.

Up until now, IDM has not integrated well with Edge, even though a browser integration plugin was available since early 2016. Even the website of IDM mentions this on a support page.

That changes today with IDM 6.30, as the new extension released on the Microsoft Store, works brilliantly with Edge. During the update/install process you will be prompted to download the extension.

You can download the IDM Integration Module for Edge from the Microsoft Store. The extension is from Tonec, and the page looks like this. Don’t install some other extension.

Do so, and open Microsoft Edge, and click on the prompt which appears, and select “Turn it on” and the extension will be enabled. But, you still need to restart the computer for the update to take effect.

So we decided to test the add-on, and it does work fine, even on YouTube. That being said, it doesn’t always catch the downloads, but IDM says it is being improved.
