Face Unlock for the Honor View 10 is here, via a OTA Update. The Huawei subsidiary brand, had announced the device in December 2017, before launching the device in India earlier this month.
The View 10 did have a face recognition technology prior to the new update, but it only allowed the user to view their notifications on the lockscreen. This is powered by the NPU (Neural Processing Unit) which the phone uses for A.I. (artificial intelligence)
The update adds a proper Face Unlock for the Honor View 10, which of course can unlock the phone. That’s not all that it can do, the NPU also detects when you are looking at the phone and prevents the display from being locked even if you are not using it.
The new A.I. features also includes distance based face-detection, which enables the phone to use landscape/portrait orientation, depending on whether you are lying down. This prevents the phone from auto-rotating the display, and keeps the correct orientation.
The update also adds improvements to the selfie and rear cameras which have gained A.I based features like digital zoom. Honor says that the Honor View 10 Face Unlock update 10 is currently being seeded, and should reach all users over the next few days.
