Google has been rather infamous for acquiring developer studios and killing off the original apps and services that they made.
Bump & Flock are the latest victims to get the axe, and will be joining the Google Graveyard on January 31st.
Just over three months later, Bump Technologies has announced that both services will be shutdown this month.
This is the message posted by the CEO & Co-Founder of Bump Technologies, David Lieb
“We are now deeply focused on our new projects within Google, and we’ve decided to discontinue Bump and Flock. On January 31, 2014, Bump and Flock will be removed from the App Store and Google Play. After this date, neither app will work, and all user data will be deleted.”
The developers have also said their “new creations at Google will do the same.” So maybe the apps will return under the Google banner, but under a different name and logo.
You can export all your data from Bump and Flock. To do so just open the app and you will find some instructions, following which you will receive an email with a link to all your data.
Google continue to acquire companies, the most recent acquisition are the Android app developers, Bitspin who made the Timely Alarm Clock.
