Face Unlock for the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T is coming soon, according to a Tweet by the company’s co-founder, Carl Pei. The news comes about 2 weeks after it was announced that the OnePlus 5 would be getting the feature.
Pei’s Tweet suggests that this had let to many OnePlus 3 and 3T users requesting the same feature for their devices, and that the company has listened to user feedback. There is no ETA on when the feature would be added.
But, considering that the Android Oreo update for the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T has already been released, there is no doubt that the Face Unlock feature is likely to arrive in a separate OTA update.
The OnePlus 5 has also been updated to Android 8.0 Oreo, but the company’s most recent flagship, the OnePlus 5T is yet to be updated to the latest version of Android. There is a beta update available for the OnePlus 5T, but be aware that if you want to flash the update, you have to wipe the data on the phone, and when you want to return to the stable channel, another clean install is required.
The only sad part is that none of the Oreo updates have added support for Project Treble, and the company has actually said it does not plan to do so.
