Apple to launch a cheaper MacBook Air in 2018

Apple is planning to launch a new MacBook Air this year, and according to a rumour, there is a change which everyone may like. Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, who has a good track record when it comes to reliable Apple leaks, has revealed that the Cupertino company will launch a cheaper MacBook Air in 2018.

And that is cheaper as in a lower price tag, aka an affordable MacBook Air. Let’s see what the current prices are. The MacBook Air prices start at $999 for the 13.3-inch variant The price translates to about Rs. 58,000 in India, which is actually what the device retails for in the US ($891). There is a 12-inch Macbook which costs $1299, and a 13-inch MacBook Pro which costs the same.

Those are not exactly affordable prices, which may explain why Apple is deciding to offer a cheaper one. But since there is no concrete evidence, we advise taking the leak with a pinch of salt.

Incidentally, this rumour is not the first to suggest a new MacBook Air is in the works. A similar report was made by Digitimes, in January this year, suggesting that Apple will be launching a 13-inch entry-level MacBook. Hopefully, this doesn’t mean that the device will be too under-powered.
