Age of Empires, the first game of the hugely popular RTS series from Ensemble Studios and Microsoft, is being remade, in the form of Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. Adam Isgreen, a former Command and Conquer designer, who now works at Microsoft made the incredible announcement, at E3 2017.
The remastered version of the game will support 4K resolution, entirely re-orchestrated soundtrack, fully voice acted campaigns, and some major changes to the gameplay. The game will be exlcusive to Windows 10, and will have Xbox Live support for multiplayer, and achievements. Age of Empires: Definitive Edition includes the original Age of Empires game, and its Rise of Rome expansion, featuring 16 civilizations.
I played Age of Empires when I was a kid, around 10 years of age. I can’t believe 20 years have gone by. Anyway, here are some screenshots from Age of Empires: Definitive Edition.
Here you can see Roman Legionnaires (sword and shield), Priests, Hoplites (spear and shield), Composite Bowmen, Cataphracts, Ballista Towers, Houses, an Academy, an Archery Range, Stable, A Temple, a Wonder (Colossus), etc.
In this screenshot, you can see a fleet of Triremes, Fireships, Transport Ships, Docks, Elephants, a Granary, Storehouse a Lion, Deer, etc.
This screenshot is much cooler, as it shows of the new zoom levels, and has some nice units like Catapults, Chariots, and armies battling each other.
