There are still thousands of users who are using the Golden Operating System, and refuse to budge.

If you are one of the XP users, listen up, we have some good news for you. A single registry hack will allow you to receive Windows Updates for 5 more years.

How to add the registry key:

1. Create a new text file and save it with a .reg extension. (For e.g.: XP.reg or update.reg )

2. Copy the following content to it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]

"Installed"=dword:00000001

3. Save it on your computer.

4. Double click on the REG file to add it to your Window’s Registry.

That’s it, you should now be able receive and install Updates for your precious Windows XP. Sadly the above trick only applies to the 32 bit versions of Windows XP. 64 bit users, please head over to this page, and follow the instructions given there.

Disclaimer: There is no guarantee that the updates will work fine, as they were not designed for XP. So try it at your own risk.
