Samsung announces Next-Gen Galaxy Camera 2

Samsung Electronics has announced a next-generation version of its popular and award winning android based camera, called Galaxy Camera 2.

 

The new Galaxy Camera 2 boasts following changes and additions over its predecessor:

1. 1.6GHz Quad Core processor

2. Enhanced battery life of 2000mAh

3. Huge 21x Optical Zoom

4. Massive 2.0 GB of RAM

5. 16M BSI CMOS Sensor

6. 121.2mm (4.8-inch) HD Super Clear Touch LCD

 

In addition to the above noteworthy features, Galaxy Camera 2 also features software’s such as Tag & Go, Photo Beam, Remote Viewfinder, Smart Mode Suggest, Selfie Alarm, Beauty Face, Multi Motion Video, Story Album, Paper Artist, Xtremera and ChatOn. Moreover, it comes with free Dropbox storage of 50GB (for 2 years), and features complete suite of Google services such as Hangouts, YouTube, Maps, Play Books, Newsstand and others.

 

The Galaxy Camera 2 will have Android JellyBean 4.3 with an internal storage of 8GB, with support for an additional 64GB of storage extension using MicroSD cards.

 

Per Samsung:

"The result is a more powerful and portable device which continues to embrace the public's passion for the social features of smart phones, yet also provides superior image control and quality. We are dedicated to making it easier for more people to achieve great results and with the Galaxy Camera 2's host of creative features, anyone can capture stand out images."

 

Although with a faster processor, newer android version, better battery life and more storage/memory Galaxy Camera 2 looks quite promising, still there is no word on the 3G/4G featured model of the camera, as the current specifications include only Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity. Therefore, we have to wait for Samsung to unveil the camera in the on-going CES-2014 which started today on 07-Jan-2014.
