OnePlus co-founder, Pete Lau, has hinted that the OnePlus 5T could be priced aggressively. Lau tweeted a message which mentions that though the cost of smartphone components have been rising, phones are getting better.
He also says that "OnePlus users will appreciate what's coming”, a very subtle hint about the OnePlus price. Now, there are several ways to look at this message.
The glass half empty guy will think that this message is defending a price increase for the OnePlus 5T. And given the company’s track record, we can understand why. But on a positive note, the Tweet seems to be saying, hey the OnePlus 5T will be priced the same as the OnePlus 5.
While existing OnePlus 5 users may not be happy about this move, new buyers will certainly appreciate such a price tag. This hint from Lau, ties in with a previous report, which does claim that the OnePlus 5T will cost the same as its predecessor.
If you think that OnePlus could offer a price reduction for the OnePlus 5, after the 5T is launched, we think a permanent discount is unlikely. The phone has been out of stock in most parts of the world. The OnePlus 5 is still available in India though, so it could get a price cut.
We only have to wait until November 16th, to find out what the OnePlus 5T will retail for.
