The US leg of Pokémon GO Fest 2024 has started in New York City, and thousands of fans are already exploring Manhattan to catch the exclusive Marshadow. Don't worry if you're not in New York; Marshadow will be available worldwide soon, though for a price.
Besides Marshadow, Niantic has partnered with the e-sports brand 100 Thieves for the event. But the surprises don’t stop there. Google, the former owner of Niantic, has also rolled out some exciting perks for Pokémon GO players.

Use Google Play Points for Exclusive Content
Google announced on its blog, The Keyword, that Pokémon GO players can use their Google Play Points to get exclusive in-game content. The highlight is that you can use these points to purchase exclusive Partner Research. This research leads to an encounter with Charcadet, a rare fire-type Pokémon. However, this perk is only available to players in Brazil, Germany, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and the US.
You can also boost your Play Points temporarily. Until July 14, you can earn quintuple the points when you buy anything in Pokémon GO. This means more points for more perks!

Special Bonuses for NYC Attendees
If you’re attending Pokémon GO Fest in New York City and are a Gold+ Play Points member, you have even more bonuses waiting for you. Here’s what you need to do:
Register for a Wildcard: This will unlock the chance to win exclusive merchandise and prizes. You might also get to meet popular 100 Thieves e-personalities.
Visit the Google Store in Chelsea: Between 11 am and 2 pm through July 7, Gold+ members can access Pokémon x 100 Thieves merchandise at the Google Store in Chelsea.
Future of Play Points Program
Google has been enhancing its Play Points program with new bonuses since May. These bonuses include exclusive merchandise, early access to games, and VIP experiences at events. Pokémon GO Fest 2024 is the first event to feature these exclusive VIP experiences. While meeting 100 Thieves e-personalities might not be everyone’s idea of a VIP experience, it’s definitely an exciting addition for many Pokémon GO fans.
