The news came via a tweet from The Verge’s reporter, Tom Warren.

The device is reportedly being called the HTC W8, and here is a mockup image of the phone.

Apparently the phone is based on an announced Android phone called the HTC A9, even though it reportedly looks similar to the M8. The good news however, is that the phone is expected to offer somehigh-end specs at a mid-range price.

It will run on Windows Phone 8.1, and will support the Dot View Case, which the M8 supports.

Microsoft are preparing a Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 Update for adding support for smart cases, later this year.

The M8 running on Android, has been hugely successful, and would undoubtedly taste the same, if a Windows Phone version is released, thanks to it’s amazing specifications which will hopefully include the Duo Camera, BoomSound Speakers, and a Metal body.
