Yesterday we posted about Memory usage of the browsers, and suggested K-Meleon as an option as a light browser. The issue with K-Meleon is that they stopped development and last update was around 30 months back (Update: They started development again, new version is on Beta stage). K-Meleon will not work well with Google plus, even you spoof it, many features will not work. So here we have some more browsers who are active still, and have a very small memory footprint. We will consider Green Browser, Columbus and SlimBoat.
Here is the memory footprint of these 3 browsers
Without Tabs
Just one tab with Google on it
4 Tabs opened
5 Tabs opened and waited for 45 minutes
Green Browser
Green Browser is have a very light memory footprint. This browser is based on the Trident rendering engine used in Internet Explorer. This includes many tools like
AD Filter, Mouse Gesture, Mouse Drag, Auto Fill Form, Auto Scroll, Auto Refresh, Auto Save, Auto Hide, Search Bar, Identity, General Form, Auto Submit Form, Send Key to Page, External Toolbar, Collector, Page Manager, Download Manager, Group, Plugin, Skin, Proxy, Start Mode, URL Alias, Quick Key, Link List, Status Bar Setting, Sort Save Page, Clean System, Page Download Control, Page Zoom, Page Background Color, Speed Dial,
I still had some small issues with Google plus and Hangout

Columbus Browser
Columbus browser is another light weight browser. The customization option of this browser is very less it seems.
The home page does not seems to be changeable, also the middle click on links will not open on new tabs. It is a bit tough again to use if you are coming from a browser like IE, Opera, Firefox or Chrome.
